Emergency Information
First
- Keep your Township address (2876 Island 12, etc) by or stuck to the phone. This is synched with the township’s emergency services and with the OPP – it might help either service find you upon a call to 911.
- Order a 911 sign
Then, Create a Personal Safety Plan [water pump map, defibrillator map]
- Print out key medical and fire emergency information for your family, guests and renters, including the GHB Emergency Medical Information and driving instructions to the Barrie and Parry Sound medical facilities. Post them in an accessible location in the cottage.
- Call 9-1-1 first in cases of personal injury or fire.
- If you don‘t have a car in King Bay, consider making arrangements to borrow a car in case you need to get to the Parry Sound Health Centre. This is the closest major hospital and was renovated in 2007.
- Keep your health insurance cards with you for hospital visits or at least a record of their numbers.
- Familiarize yourself with the location and operation of the fire pump closest to your cottage.
- Develop a local fire and emergency response plan with immediate neighbours. Identify those who have a fast boat.
- Test your running lights regularly; keep an inventory of spare parts to ensure that they are always in good working order.
